Cognition Solutions close a difficult deal - and win
future business
As
a provider of business information systems to the contracting,
construction, and maintenance industries, Cognition
Solutions plc enables companies to collect, analyse
and distribute information effectively - and monitor
how their business is performing at a glance. Established
in 1981, the company is independent and privately owned,
and has offices in London, Cheltenham and Manchester.
Having
worked with CCL for the last five years, Cognition offers
rental as an option to customers on most deals. In the
case of one customer, who had difficulty arranging finance
themselves, this proved particularly useful. Systems
Consultant Janet York explains why.
We
were able to close the deal easily
"One
of our customers was having trouble sourcing finance
for our software, and it was looking like the deal was
going to fall through. So we approached CCL, and they
were able to sort out an agreement very quickly," explains
Janet. "The customer was happy because they got their
software. And we were happy because we closed the deal
and got paid quickly."
We
didn't have to wait for payment
According
to Janet, rental delivers significant cashflow benefits
- both for the customer and supplier. "They can spread
the costs of their software over time, instead of taking
a large sum of money out of their business. And we get
paid straight away - which inevitably has a positive
impact on our cashflow too."
And
we can sell more products to our customer in the future
Thanks
to CCL's Rental Exchange® mechanism, Cognition's
customer can upgrade their software at any time in the
future, without increasing their payments. Janet explains
what this means: "As well as arranging finance
for the initial software, CCL also incorporated the
option to include subsequent functionality upgrades
for the same monthly payment. That means an easy upgrade
path for our customer - and more business for us in
the future."
