The
IT spend pot is getting bigger say Computer Weekly and
Kew Associates in a preview of their Spring report Forecasting
and Quantifying IT spend. Results from 3,000 respondents
in 21 spend categories, 5 sizes of company and 66 industry
sectors indicate for the third year running a growth
in overall IT expenditure.
In
brief, the computer services sector is forecast to be
the biggest earner this year accruing more than GBP16.4bn.
Outsourcing alone has witnessed a 25% growth year on
year from 1999 to 2001. Software expenditure is forecast
to be only half of the services spend at GBP8.5bn.
Overall,
the report shows IT budgets growing 5-10% year on year,
to a forecasted GBP65b in 2002. Not bad, but imagine
how much further growth we might see with leasing becoming
industry standard...
